The problem
A conference site has a hard deadline and a short, intense traffic peak. Everything has to be right before the event, and the platform has to hold up when a mailing list lands on it at once. It also has to keep working afterwards, since the archive is what convinces people to attend the next one.
The approach
A conference has a fixed date and a traffic curve to match: near-nothing, then a spike when the programme is announced or a mailing goes out, then a long archive tail. The build is static-first so the spike costs nothing to serve, with the programme and speaker data structured rather than hand-written so a schedule change is an edit and not a rebuild of a page. The archive matters as much as the event — it is what convinces people to attend the next one.
